Campaign Option #2: Once Upon a Time
New World Journey
Combat: Medium
Roleplay: Medium
Travel: Medium
Starting Level: 3
Summary of campaign style: Starts off as your standard DnD campaign. Dungeon delving, fun monsters, NPCs, small hamlets, things of that nature. See the movie? It’s like that
Region Info/Pitch: Everyone knows what a standard DnD campaign looks like in their head. A group of adventurers have to take on an evil wizard, a beholder, or a dragon. Stop them from taking over the town and destroying the local fishing economy. This campaign starts out that way, and is largely built in collaboration with the players. You’ll all work together, but your backstory is important in shaping what this world looks like. If you come from an important clan of mountain dwarves, that’ll come up in the campaign somehow. This is probably the most flexible campaign as well. Pirates? Sure! Political intrigue? Of course.
Player Buy-in: You want to play DnD! And also have your character’s backstory be a part of the story. You’ll also have to want to explore other’s backstories as well. This is the most standard of settings, but standard doesn’t mean bad! Plenty can happen. In fact, it’s probably the most setting-flexible. If you’ve always wanted to save the kingdom, defeat the evil sorcerer, and find the mythical sword, this is for you.
For this campaign, I would use the website to send letters to players, or various things like that.
